Resume Writing Process & Options
When we decide to work together, we’ll begin a collaborative process to create a world-class resume for you. Here is the process we’ll go through together:
Strategic assessment — Every client’s needs are different, so we’ll start by assessing what your needs are to ensure you get the appropriate tools for your job search.
Background information – I’ll ask you to provide me with some information to help us get off to a great start.
In-depth interview — We’ll meet (usually by phone or Skype video conference) to discuss your qualifications and identify your unique value and personal brand. I’ll also take you through the keyword selection process to identify keywords that will greatly improve your chances of computer software “screening in” your resume for opportunities of interest.
Writing and editing — I’ll prepare an accomplishment-oriented, visually appealing, attention-getting, keyword-rich resume that conveys your unique qualifications and personal brand. I’ll provide the draft in a Microsoft Word file. Once you’ve had a chance to review it, I’ll make any revisions you’d like, until you love it. Then, I’ll complete your other documents (and we can revise any of them, as well, if needed).
When we’re done, I’ll provide all your documents in Microsoft Word, ASCII, and PDF formats. You can then upload your resume to websites, print it on your home printer or at a copy center, e-mail it to people — whatever the needs of your job search dictate.
Payment
- You can pay before, during, or after your interview.
- I must receive your payment (in full) prior to sending your resume draft.
- If you’re uncomfortable paying in full at the outset, there are a couple escrow services we can use. This enables you to give me 50% upfront and the rest when the project is successfully completed. To do this, you must put the entire amount into escrow at the outset. This process protects both of us and works somewhat like the escrow services used for purchasing real estate. Just let me know if you would like more information about the escrow options.
Resume Writing Turnaround Time
My typical turnaround time is 3-6 business days. At the outset, we’ll make sure I’m going to be able to turn around the document in time for any deadlines you might have.
If you have an urgent need and need your resume sooner than 3 business days, I have a few options (see prices for these on my Services and Pricing page):
- A temporary resume — This is an “interim fix” that I can complete quickly (1-2 business days). Then, we can start on your “real” resume and devote the time necessary to make it a truly distinctive document. I recommend this option in most cases.
- Rush service — If you need your resume fast for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and don’t need your resume for an upcoming job search, ask me if I can accommodate a rush order with my current workload.
If you’re ready to get started or would like to learn more, I hope you’ll contact me so we can discuss your needs.
